About
We make U.S. real estate data legible.
HousingHandbook is the reference site for U.S. residential real estate data — organized by ZIP code, free, accurate, and updated regularly. Think StockAnalysis.com for stocks, AuthorityNutrition for food, but for the place you live (or might).
Coverage
~33,000 ZIP-code pages. A geographic hierarchy on top: city, county, metro, and state pages. Comparison pages between any two ZIPs. Free calculators (rental yield, cap rate, mortgage, buy vs rent). Hundreds of ranking pages — "highest yield ZIPs in Texas", "5-year appreciation leaders". A growing library of explainer articles at /learn.
See the methodology for how metrics are computed, and data sources for the datasets and their refresh cadence.
Editorial standards
- Data accuracy is the moat.Wrong numbers destroy trust irrecoverably, so we hide a field rather than fabricate one. If a source doesn't cover a ZIP, the dependent section is omitted from that page; it shows "—", not a guess.
- Plausibility-checked at ingestion. Every metric has a defensible range. Values outside their range are dropped before they reach a page (see plausibility checks).
- No ads above the fold. Ever. The reference experience is the product.
- 90% free / 10% Pro. When uncertain whether a feature belongs in Free or Pro, we default to Free. Pro launches later for power-user features (unlimited watchlist, exports, year-in-review reports) — not to gate the reference data.
What we are not
- Not a listings site. No active for-sale or for-rent inventory. Use Zillow / Redfin / Apartments.com for those.
- Not an agent finder. We don't broker referrals or take commissions on transactions.
- Not a lead generator. Your email when you sign up is for newsletter and account use only — see our privacy policy.
